A chiropodist is a primary health care professional knowledgeable and trained in the assessment and management of foot and lower limb disorders. Shannon is also qualified to prescribe drugs, perform soft tissue surgeries, and administer corticosteroid injections. Shannon looks forward to meeting you and becoming part of the health care professional team that looks after you and your health!

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

Patients should choose me instead of others in the area because I am someone who genuinely cares about my patients’ health and well-being. I always strive to do my best to provide the highest standard of care for my clients. This means I am attentive and detail oriented during treatments, and I work diligently to master the skills and knowledge within my scope of practice. I graduated with distinction in my class and keep track of recent research to apply evidence based medicine in my practice.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

The top 3 treatments I focus on are diabetic foot care, basic nail/callus care (including fungal nails and ingrowns), and prescription of orthotics. One thing I really appreciate about my profession is the ability to relieve an individual of their discomfort or pain by the end of the treatment session. Most often, patients leave the treatment room much happier and more comfortable than when they came in. This is what I find very rewarding about being a chiropodist.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I am proud to be a part of a team of health care professionals who are committed to providing holistic care for their patients. Inter professional collaboration is something I truly value and view as an integral part of providing the best patient centred care for the community.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

Honestly, I find reward in every case I encounter as long as the patient leaves satisfied and helped in some way. If I had to choose, I would say I particularly enjoy treating cases that are challenging and require a little extra precision. For instance, nail surgeries would have to be one of my favourites.
