Sedation dentistry uses medication to help you relax during your dental treatments. Depending on your needs, one of the following types of sedation may be used: Minimal sedation — you’re awake, but relaxed. Moderate sedation — you may slur your words when speaking and not remember much of the treatment. Deep sedation — you’re on the edge of consciousness, but can still be awakened. General anesthesia — you are completed unconscious. Regardless of what type of sedation you have, you will need someone to drive you home after your appointment.
