I have had the same dentist since I was a kid and when he recently retired, I knew it was time to find a dentist closer to home. They were overly friendly and very kind. They also thoroughly explained any work that I needed done. The clarified anything I had questions with and even offered to send my xrays to my sister who is a dental assistant out of state.
