Our primary goal is to help you in the maintenance of a healthy mouth without encouraging you to invest in unnecessary treatment. Dr. MacLeod will take whatever time is necessary to explain the treatment needed and define the options available to keep your teeth in excellent condition. Then, of course, you will choose what you wish to do. We hope you agree that regular preventive care is a good investment. While we will send you a reminder that it is time for a check-up, we ask that you call for an appointment when you receive this notice. At the first appointment, we will do a full clinical examination. This includes noting all existing filings and oral conditions as well as evaluating for gum disease. Appropriate x-rays will be taken. (If you have had x-rays within the past 12 months, these will be requested from your previous dentist.) The hygienist will clean your teeth at this visit, removing tartar and plaque. In most cases, this can be completed in one visit; however, occasionally more than one visit is needed to remove all the calculus.Dr. MacLeod will examine your teeth after the cleaning. If further treatment is needed, a treatment plan will be developed and discussed. At the end of your visit, we will recommend a periodic care schedule custom tailored for you. This will give you the best chance for keeping healthy teeth and gums.
