Dr. Farhad Shahian

Dr. Farhad K. Shahian is a graduate of University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) and has been teaching at UDM dental school since 2008. Dr. Shahian is committed to provide his patients with the highest standard of dental care available. Dr. Shahian stays at the forefront of his field by continuously advancing his professional expertise through specialized courses in different fields of dentistry. One of his most recent training is in utilizing laser technology for various applications in the field of dentistry. As a faculty member at the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Dentistry, he has ongoing opportunity to keep up to date and can seek advice from other experts in different areas of dentistry when he is dealing with difficult cases. While earning his Ph.D. in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Windsor, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery, he has received numerous provincial and national scholarships and awards, including being on the Dean’s List throughout his four years of dental education. Dr. Shahian is also an elected member for Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), the national dental honour society; and is professionally licenced to practise in Ontario and Michigan. Some of his favourite patients are on the other side of the border, where Dr. Shahian volunteers with the Give Kids a Smile Program dedicated to providing free dental care to children in inner cities. With two young children, Dr. Shahian understands the challenges faced by parents today. He has a particular interest in establishing a comfortable dental home for children and has extensive experience treating children with great success. Dr. Shahian is a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, the Canadian Dental Association, the Ontario Dental Association, the Michigan dental association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry including pediatric dentistry (treating children), endodontics (root canals), oral surgery (extractions), crowns, bridges and implants.
