John Griffin is a caring and comprehensive board certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist serving his patients in Dallas. Dr. Griffin was a chief resident in the Department of Dermatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is a member and active participant in both national and international professional organizations including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, American Society of Dermatopathology, International Society of Dermatology and International Society of Dermatopathology. He has published his research in national and international medical journals. A native Texan, Dr. Griffin began his training at Texas A&M University in College Station where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and earned a degree in Biology with a minor in Business. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he earned both his medical degree and a certificate for intensive study in medical humanities. He then attended the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education at the Mayo Clinic to complete his internship in internal medicine and residency in dermatology. Afterword, Dr. Griffin completed fellowship training in dermatopathology at the world-renowned Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology in New York, NY. Dermatopathology is the study of microscopic findings of skin biopsies. This specialized training places him in a small cadre of physicians that have completed dual training in dermatology and dermatopathology worldwide and allows him to add a unique perspective to patient care. Dr. Griffin is particularly interested in caring for patients with pruritus (itch), medical dermatology and skin cancer and skin care for organ transplant patients, but he welcomes all patients ranging from infants to adults.
