Biography

Kris DeCant, PT, Owner and Physical Therapist Kris is a dedicated, caring and qualified Physical Therapist with extensive orthopedic experience. She is skilled in muscle energy techniques, manual therapy, evaluation and treatment of spinal and sacroiliac dysfunction. She is an effective communicator and teacher who is one of the most frequently requested clinicians in several facilities around the country. She has been commended by management, peers and patients for her innovation, clinical accomplishments and patient satisfaction. Kris Decant, PT, owner of Desert Sky Physical Therapy, is a certified LSVT clinician for Parkinson's. She is skilled in Total Motion Release, muscle energy techniques, manual therapy and in evaluation and treatment of spinal and sacroiliac dysfunction. She is frequently requested by patients and as a consultant on problematic cases from other physical therapists because of her excellent professional reputation, outstanding clinical skills and effectiveness in developing strong patient relationships. Kris has had the opportunity to work in five states (RI, MA, UT, PA and AZ) and in a variety of Physical Therapy settings; acute care, neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation, headache clinic, back to work center, outpatient and private practice, which helped her develop an impressive array of clinical skills and abilities. For nearly 25 years, patients and students alike have benefited from Kris´s skilled expertise, compassion, and warm, friendly and caring manner. Kris was born and raised in Illinois. She completed her pre-physical therapy requirements at Northwestern University , including a scholarship to St. Edmund´s College of Oxford University, England, where she completed a comparative study of socialized versus privatized medicine. Kris graduated in 1982 cum laude from Boston University ´s Sargent College of Allied Health Professions, which was rated as the number one Physical Therapy school by the American Physical Therapy Association. She honed her teaching skills as a clinical instructor, a center coordinator of clinical education and as an assistant clinical instructor at the University of Utah. She was a keynote speaker at the Utah Annual Physical Therapy conference. She has authored several training manuals, written policies and procedures and worked as a private consultant to industry where she was the author and producer of an American with Disabilities Act video for Delta Airlines and MmanTec transportation services at the Salt Lake City International Airport . She has been a trainer for health care workers. She d eveloped and presented multimedia employee training programs on prevention of back injuries, body mechanics, transfer techniques and employee health and fitness programs.
