MScPT, BScKin., Registered Physiotherapist, Certified Medical Acupuncture Carmen Lau completed her undergraduate degree at McMaster University where she graduated with Honours and received a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. She then went on to complete her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. Carmen is an active member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Carmen has always had a keen interest for sports and maintaining an active lifestyle. She has over 6 years of experience in Wushu, a form of martial arts. She also enjoys playing other sports such as volleyball, softball, archery and snowboarding. As an avid athlete herself, Carmen understands the importance and benefits of injury management, physical fitness and strength and conditioning. Loving to learn, Carmen continues to enrol herself in courses to advance her knowledge and skill set. She has taken courses in Mulligan’s Concept and advanced athletic taping. She has also completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program from McMaster University and she frequently uses this treatment as an adjunct to manual therapy for many of her clients. She is currently pursuing her levels in Manual and Manipulative Therapy through the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Carmen’s treatment philosophy involves utilizing a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, strength training, athletic taping and education to help her clients achieve a quick recovery with optimal function. She enjoys working closely with her clients to develop individualized treatment programs to help them meet their personal goals of physical performance.
