Hello! My name is Shahla and I am the owner and Clinic Director at Unique Rehab and Physiotherapy. I have been working as a physiotherapist for over two decades and started Unique Rehab and Physioterapy, my own treatment facility, in 2002. After ten successful years we expanded our services to a second location in Richmond Hill. My goal as a provider is more than just helping you recover quickly to return to your normal activities, I am a strategic healer looking to assess and address the source of your physical pain and problems.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I am a Registered Physiotherapist with over 25 years of extensive experience in physiotherapy treatment in a variety of settings including numerous hospitals and clinics across Toronto. Patients should choose me as their provider because I have over two decades of experience treating pain with a unique multi-disciplinary approach that exceeds traditional physiotherapy treatment. Over the years, my interest in pain management and therapy have inspired me to pursue different treatment techniques including Chinese Medicine and Yoga. I am a Registered Massage Therapist, certified Yoga and Pilates instructor, Acupuncturist, trained and attend health and wellness seminars annually to expand my skill set to treat patients better.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

I specialize in a variety of treatments however my three most specialized approaches are myofacial release, musculoskeletal pain therapy and strength training. Over the years I have worked with patients who suffer from sport injuries, car accidents, arthritis and amputation.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I am proud to have been able to help relieve and reduce pain for Unique Rehab's patients for over thirteen years. My unique strategies of blending inter-disciplinary techniques patients manage their pain and heal more quickly. My practice has been able to help patients improve their flexibility, strengthen their muscles, enhance their quality of movement and co-ordination as well as prevent future injuries. Helping relieving and manage physical pain has allowed me to change lives of hundreds of patients and for this I am incredibly proud.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I enjoy working with patients who are looking to address long term conditions and physical issues. This includes a patient who suffer from chronic pain syndromes like trauma/injury, diabetes mellitus, fibromyalgia, limb amputation and reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Some conditions and diseases such as cancer and arthritis cause long term pain. This type of pain affects each person individually, no two cases are the same. In some cases this pain can lead to decreased activity, job loss, stress, depression and disability. Working is very challenging and tests your skills as a therapist and healer as you try to lessen their pain and restore their activity to the highest possible level. Focusing on a highly specialized treatment plan, I am able to truly help the life of someone who has been suffering for years. It is one of the most rewarding cases as a physiotherapist as it challenges me to be a better therapist.
