Biography

Joy graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto in 1990 and continued to pursue her love of sports and orthopaedics by supporting Canada’s elite athletes at Local, National and International events. She has been an active Team Canada Physiotherapist at several World Championships (Water Polo and Softball), Olympic Qualifications, Pan American Games (Water Polo and Softball), and is a proud owner of a Toronto Argonaut Grey Cup Ring (1991). She credits wonderful learning experiences from fellow Therapists, Orthopaedic surgeons and Medical staff at various facilities over the past 24 years. Joy’s focus remains the same whether she is working with elite athletes, week-end warriors or injured workers; “it hurts to get better” and a good assessment and diagnosis are the cornerstone to recovery. Spending time to listen to your client and encouraging them to participate in their goals will help them complete the exercises and home program successfully. She has pursued a number of post-graduate courses giving her a diverse clinical skill set, all of which she uses on a regular basis. Since being recognized in her teens as a YWCA “Young Woman of Distinction” and selected as a Red Cross International Youth Year Canadian, Joy has continued to work very hard to use her skills to help people recover and accomplish their goals; she enjoys being both a leader and part of a strong team, contributing enthusiasm, energy and expertise.
