Evelyn’s enthusiasm, energy, and love of the profession led to her appointment as Head Physiotherapist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto, one of the youngest Physiotherapists ever appointed to this position. Working with the Orthopaedic Surgeons at St. Joseph’s Hospital fracture clinics, Evelyn ventured into private practice opening High Park Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre, one of the first OHIP funded centers in the province of Ontario, treating mainly orthopaedic and sports related injuries. Bloor West Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre was later established as a full multi-disciplinary rehabilitation centre. Most recently, Ms Brett was honoured to be selected as one of 25 Canadian Physiotherapists to participate in a Canadian delegation to post war Rwanda. Her vast knowledge and experience in orthopaedic injuries and in the delivery of high quality health care made her a valuable asset to the team. Evelyn has been on numerous committees and has served on several community programs including: • A Trustee on the Humber Memorial Hospital Board of Directors • Served on the Board of Directors of the Schedule 5 Physiotherapy Association • Was on the fee negotiating committee with the Ontario Ministry of Health and W.S.I.B. • Instructor for in-service training, biomechanics and lifting techniques to several corporations • Clinical instructor to Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy assistant students for various colleges Evelyn has worked as a co-operative student clinical instructor with the Universities of Waterloo, Guelph and Windsor, as well as various colleges. Evelyn also lends her expertise to the corporate world as a consultant. She teaches businesses how to improve their practices to ensure worker safety.
