Biography

Maria completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary prior to receiving her Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia. Maria has gained experience with a wide spectrum of clients including acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, neurological conditions, pre- and post- orthopedic surgeries, chronic pain, sports injuries and women's health. Passionate about physiotherapy, Maria continues to further advance her knowledge by taking continuing education courses to ensure her choice of treatment is evidence based. Maria has taken courses in dry needling, spinal manipulation, K taping, headache management, concussion management, pilates, and pelvic health. Maria listens to her clients and provides them with the education they need to have a successful recovery and achieve their goals. She uses an individualized treatment approach that combines patient education, manual therapy, soft tissue release, taping, dry needling and specific exercise prescription. Her aim is to restore mobility, re-establish appropriate movement patterns, improve function, and minimize the likelihood of injury re-occurrence.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

My strength is my ability to listen to my clients and provide the education they need to have a successful recovery. To achieve the best outcome, I use an individualized treatment approach that combines manual therapy, patient education, specific exercise prescription and potentially dry needling. My aim is to restore mobility, re establish appropriate movement patterns, improve function, and minimize the likelihood of injury re occurrence.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

Exercise prescription, patient education, dry needling

What are you proud of in your practice?

I pride in sharing my enthusiasm for healthy living and fitness. I bring this passion to my work and try to educate and inspire my clients to make lasting changes in their lives and achieve their goals. I take pride in providing a tailored approach to each of my patients where I incorporate their own experiences, abilities and goals in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

1. Post-operative rehabilitation ( ie. ORIFs, ACL surgeries, shoulder stabilizations); I enjoy collaborating with orthopedic surgeons to achieve the most optimal outcomes 2. Cervicogenic headaches; I find that with a skillful assessment which identifies the origin of the headaches and manual therapy techniques you can improve headache symptoms quickly and make a positive change to someones well being. 3. Sports injuries; I understand how important physical activity is in some peoples lives and find joy in seeing people return to their sport after an injury.

Maria is fantastic! Excellent at diagnosis and at explaining the rehabilitation process. She sets a realistic timeline that doesn't overwhelm the patient. Would highly recommend.
