Biography

Waymen Wong, DPT graduated with his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2002 with high honours from the University of St. Augustine in Florida, USA. He continued to further his orthopedic training through the Ola Grimsby Institute by completing a residency in Seattle and then a post-doctoral fellowship in Chicago, receiving well over 1500 hours of residency training and 1000 hours of post-doctoral fellowship advanced level training. In 2006 he completed this rigorous process and passed his exams to become a Fellow in both the Canadian and American Academies for Manual Therapy. In 2006 he returned to Vancouver and open several orthopaedic sports and manual therapy clinics in the lower mainland. He is also a contributing author in an academic textbook (Science, Theory and Clinical Application in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy: Scientific Therapeutic Exercise Progressions (STEP): The Neck and Upper Extremity), and sits on the Extended Scope of Practice Task Force and the Professional Development Advisory Council for the Physiotherapy Association of BC (PABC). Dr. Wong has specialized training in treating temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain. He believes that even sports performance can be greatly affected by breathing and jaw dysfunction as these have profound effects on postural biomechanics, power generation, and core stability.
