What makes your practice special when compared with others in the area?
The Anxiety and Agoraphobia Treatment Center started in 1978 as one of the first research and treatment centers in the United States that specialized in the treatment of agoraphobia and other phobias. Over the years, we expanded our focus to include treatment of a wide range of anxiety and related disorders, including panic disorder, agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), generalized anxiety, disorder, social anxiety, specific phobias, PTSD and other related disorders. We treat children, adolescents, and adults.
What are you and your team proud of at your practice?
We strive to respond promptly to inquiries and to schedule initial evaluations promptly. We employ evidence-based treatment procedures. We also sponsor three free support groups for individuals 18 and over: a therapist-facilitated support group for panic and anxiety disorders, a therapist-facilitated support group for individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and a support group for family member and friends of individuals with OCD. (Please contact Dr. Linda Welsh at 610-667-6490, ext 15 for a brief phone screening before attending either of the first two groups.) We soon will be offering Freespira, a biofeedback system to help individuals with panic disorder learn to regulate their breathing to help reduce the frequency of panic attacks.
