Ellyn Altman, Ph.D. is a licensed NYS Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from LIU, a Postdoctoral Diploma from Adelphi U, and a Certificate in the Practice of Group Psychotherapy from the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Association. She has a special interest in working with disabled people of all ages and is the author of TALK WITH ME which addresses the hearing impaired and their families. She has a specialty in working with adolescents and children and employs filial therapy which simultaneously considers the individual and interpersonal problems experienced by children and their parents. Dr. Altman works with individuals, couples, families, and groups. She works with people of all ages.
What makes your practice special when compared with others in the area?
My office in Great Neck offers utmost privacy. People enter through one door and exit through another door. My office in Rockville Centre has an elevator for ease of entry. Appointment begin on time. People receive support through the treatment and especially during difficult times. When families receive services, each participant in a session is provided focused attention for the shared issues. When needed and appropriate they are provided services for their individual needs that arise.
What are you and your team proud of at your practice?
We attend to the problems that clients present and work to assist clients solve the problems. We are mindful that the issues presented may be complex. We are willing to address the contributing issues, so that the problems can be solved more efficiently.
