What makes your practice special when compared with others in the area?
I specialize in persons with social anxiety disorder, panic disorder with the accompanying depression and chemical dependency it often occurs with. If you are uncomfortable communicating with others, possibly to the point of fearing a panic attack (feeling you may faint, have a heart attack or 'go crazy') along with physical symptoms of sweating, light-headedness, 'jelly legs', and many others) and are avoiding people in general, you will receive the help to recover, no matter how long you have had the disorder and no matter how much it has affected your life.
What are you and your team proud of at your practice?
I see persons who have been unable to leave their home for years go back to school, obtain a job they love and become successful in. With experience in career development, career assessment and development counseling can be included in the therapy. Personal communication becomes easier and opportunities once closed due to fear become open. Depression and chemical dependency decrease when the anxiety abates and the world opens up. Social anxiety has been termed the disorder of 'missed opportunities' as the client avoids most everything due to fear of embarrassment. As therapy proceeds the client is able to take advantage of these opportunities and both personal and professional lives become fulfilled.
