Biography

I have been working in mental health since 2005, with a wide range of clients, and have had a private practice since 2010. People choose to see a therapist from a desire to make changes so they can feel more at ease in the world and in themselves. I look forward to helping facilitate those changes, and feel very privileged to be able to do this work.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I believe the foundation of all therapeutic work is your sense of feeling safe, listened to, understood and cared about during sessions. When that empathic connection has been established, we can explore together the stories, patterns and beliefs that contribute to difficulties. I work in a way that is warm and genuine, with frequent interaction between us. With patience and compassion, I can stay calm and centered as we work together. The relationship with a therapist can provide insights into how we tend to participate in relationships with ourselves, others, and the world at large.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

Through formal classwork, workshops and seminars I have been exposed to many different types of therapeutic interventions. My goal is to give each client the kind of experience and tools that he or she needs to move forward. I have used both short-term, solution focused and long-term treatment models. For relationship counseling I use Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. With individuals I draw on Attachment Theory to help understand the context of the problems a person is facing, and then use a variety of approaches depending on the issues at hand (e.g., cognitive, behavioral and relational).

What are you proud of in your practice?

Each time a new client walks into my office, I have the honor and responsibility of becoming a part of his or her story and co-creating a helpful, healing therapy experience. I find the entire process of therapy intriguing, meaningful, rewarding, awe-inspiring, and humbling. I am a catalyst, helping people go from being stuck to moving forward, and am proud of my ability to connect with others and help them heal.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I specialize in working with people who are: • managing career and life transitions • wanting to create lasting change with couples counseling • changing their relationship with drugs and alcohol • overcoming traumatic life experiences
