Michael has believed in the power of hands on health care since personally experiencing its benefits in healing past sports related injuries. This positive experience is what inspired him to become a registered massage therapist. With a background as a competitive soccer player, Michael realized the importance of not only rehabbing injuries but also the importance of prevention. Michael graduated from Vancouver College of Massage Therapy (VCMT) in April 2014. During his program he was able to complete 3000+ hours of training, which included 550+ hours of hands on training that enabled him to work with a variety of patients and conditions. A strong believer in continuing education, he is constantly expanding his knowledge through courses, as well as learning from his fellow practitioners. Michael has completed a variety of functional courses such as: Selective Functional Movement Assessment Level 1 Functional Movement Screen Level 1 Thoracic Outlet Syndrome: Treatment of Brachial Neuralgia Module 4: Clinical Reasoning & Practical Integration, Hip & Lower Extremity Posture: Evaluating and Treating Common Postural Faults, and Assessing Ergonomics The Shoulder: Developing Assessment and Treatment Plans for Common Shoulder Injuries During his spare time you can find Michael hiking, playing soccer, BEING AWESOME ;)
Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?
They should choose me because of the level of care I provide. I am honest with them when it comes to what the issue is, whether I think I'm the best fit to address their issue, or should see a different type of practitioner ( Physio, Chiro ect.). If I don't know the answer I will work to figure it out. I am a big team player and will sit in with any other appointments they have coming up whether it be with Phyiso, Chiro, Kinesiologist - whatever it may be just so I can get a better understanding of what the issue is and how I can supplement what the other practitioner has done.
What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?
I wouldn't say I specialize in any. I like to treat a variety of things using every tool I have in my tool box.
What are you proud of in your practice?
The relationships I have built with my clients. Relationships of trust, understanding, honesty, and hard work. Proud of the fact that I have been doing this 5 years and have had the opportunity to work with some of the most elite athletes to help them maintain peak performance. In addition, I'm proud of working with everyday people with goals of being healthier, pain free, more mobile and being able to get them there.
Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?
Every unique or even similar case brings on a new challenge as every body will react differently to treatments provided. What I'm getting at is all cases; because every case is different and challenges me in a different way.
