Dentist of Anaheim

I had one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had at a dental office at Dentists of Anaheim on July 3rd. Before my cleaning even started, I specifically asked the dental assistant if I could have topical numbing cream because my teeth and gums are sensitive during cleanings. Instead of honoring that request, the dentist Jason Yip started the cleaning without it. When I reminded them that I had requested numbing, he didn’t explain anything, didn’t discuss any alternatives, and didn’t ask for my consent. He simply inserted a needle into my gums and injected local anesthetic. There was no conversation beforehand and no opportunity for me to agree or disagree with receiving an injection. As a patient, I expect a dentist to explain what they’re about to do before putting a needle in my mouth. I left with half of my face completely numb for hours because of a decision that was never discussed with me. What made this experience even worse was how my concerns were handled afterward. When I brought up what happened to the dental assistant, she apologized and acknowledged that she had failed to relay my original request for topical numbing cream. I appreciated that apology because she at least took responsibility. Unfortunately, that was the only apology I received. Karla, apparently their Office manager, interrupted the conversation and immediately came across as dismissive and sarcastic. Rather than listening to why I was upset or trying to de-escalate the situation, she essentially asked, “So what do you want us to do?” with the attitude that the procedure was already done and there was nothing they could do about it. Instead of showing empathy, she made me feel like I was the problem for raising a legitimate concern. The dentist, Jason Yip, also never apologized or acknowledged that administering an injection without first explaining it or confirming my agreement was upsetting from a patient’s perspective. Everyone makes mistakes. What separates a good office from a bad one is how they respond when a patient expresses a concern. In my case, I felt completely dismissed and disrespected. The cleaning itself may have been technically fine, but because I had been unexpectedly numbed, I couldn’t even properly judge it. At times it felt very aggressive, and I couldn’t help but wonder how uncomfortable it would have been if I hadn’t been injected without my knowledge. The lack of communication, the failure to obtain my agreement before giving an injection, and the dismissive response afterward have completely destroyed my trust in this office. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this clinic based on this experience.

Dried blood on their equipment, and didnt touch my teeth at all. Told me that a routine cleaning only included polish, and did no above gum scaling. Told me that any scaling was considered a deep cleaning which is $1000s.

It was a great experience the Dental technician Keyana was amazing, very knowledgeable, pleasant, kind, and patient. Doctor Yip explained and listened and gave me all of my options. I had a great experience. Hi-tech/state of the art equipment and you knkw you will be taken care of!!!

The staff was very nice and the place was very clean

When I first checked in, the front desk staff came off a bit rude, which honestly had me second-guessing the visit. But once I met the dentist, everything changed — he was fantastic! The cleaning went really well, and I realized I could deal with the initial vibe up front if it meant getting great care from the doctor. Interestingly, by the time I was checking out, the front staff had warmed up and were actually very pleasant. A bit of a strange shift, but it was nice to see a change in attitude. Overall, the dentist made the visit worth it.

Very long wait, and it took over 2 hours

Everything was great! Got the treatment I needed with a full explanation of what was going to happen, when and how. Dentist even made sure I wasn’t experiencing anymore pain once numbed up.

First time patient at Dentist of Anaheim, I was very pleased with the available appointment times. The facility is very clean and modern, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. My cleaning was an breeze and there was no discomfort or pain. Very satisfied overall and scheduled my next cleaning.

I arrived about 15 minutes early, and was taken in within 5 minutes. Everything was done quickly and I left with my teeth feeling clean.
