Dr. Nazim Shahi

Dr. Nazim Shahi completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He pursued his dental studies at Boston University's Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and graduated with honors in 2009. He then completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Texas A&M Health Science Center in Dallas, Texas and received his certificate in 2010. Dr. Shahi is a proud member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Capital Area Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and Mensa. Committed to life-long learning, Dr. Shahi spends numerous hours each year in continuing education courses to further his knowledge of dentistry and oral medicine. He is actively pursuing fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry and hopes to achieve that distinction this year. He resides in southwest Austin with his wife, son, and two daughters. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and is an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I've been a dentist for close to 12 years and have extensive experience in treating simple and complex oral conditions. I graduated with honors from the prestigious Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Following graduation, I was one of eight students selected for a one-year Advanced Education in General Dental residency at the Texas A&M Health Sciences Center in Dallas, Texas. I am very committed to continuing education and am currently pursuing Fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry (500 hours of continuing education). I pride myself on my technical skill, attention to detail and chair-side manner.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

I focus on a variety of treatments, but my top three are veneers, crown & bridge, and tooth-colored fillings. In addition, my practice puts a strong emphasis on prevention and patient education.

What are you proud of in your practice?

Everything! My wife and I built this office ourselves. I oversaw the layout and functionality and she was in charge of the design and aesthetic. We absolutely love the way it turned out. We also are very proud of our staff. Ivette, our dental assistant, has been with us since we opened. Donna, our front desk coordinator, came on shortly after. Anabel is our hygienist and has been with us for over 3 years. Janet handles insurance and billing. We are a small little family over here at Central Texas Oral Health and we consider our patients an extension of that family as well!

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I really enjoy all aspects of dentistry. That is one of the reasons I was initially attracted to the field. There is so much variety and no two patients are ever alike. Recently, I've been taking a lot of continuing education that has focused on improving people's smiles. As we do more and more of these cases, I've found I really enjoy them. Restoring youth, beauty and confidence to a patient is a great feeling!
