About

Dr. Terry Batliner is a Colorado native who was born and raised in east Denver. He went to college at the University of Northern Colorado, also attending dental school at the University of Iowa and the Royal Dental College of Denmark, and business school in Iowa (earning an MBA through a dual degree program). Dr. Batliner is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. He spent the first eight years of his career in the Indian Health Service providing healthcare to American Indians and Alaskan Natives. From 2007 to 2017, he served as the associate director of the Center for Native Oral Health Research (CNOHR) at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus. CNOHR was one of the leading research organizations trying to improve oral health for people living on reservations. Prior to CNOHR, he held senior leadership positions at Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, the Veteran Administration (VA) and Delta Dental of Colorado. He has served on the faculty of the Colorado School of Public Health, the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine where he was the clinical dean. Dr. Batliner’s primary interest is clinical dentistry, however he is an accomplished academician with many research publications to his name. He is also an advocate for the underserved, working several years to improve access to dental care for people living in native communities, rural areas and inner cities.
