When Dr. Tom was considering his career options, two simple facts stood out for him: “I like people and I like to work with my hands.” Being active and working as part of a team has been a hallmark of Dr. Tom’s life from playing basketball to establishing his dental career. About his experiences, Dr. Tom says, “As part of a team, you learn a lot about people. Everyone has a different perspective and you have to understand that if you want to build relationships.” Dr. Tom’s interests led him to pursue a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree at Acadia University where he was the gold medallist in his program while playing varsity basketball. During his free time, he used the skills he was learning to do volunteer work with both children and people with disabilities. At graduation, he was awarded the George Wilbert Cox Cup given to the graduating male student who has the most outstanding accomplishment in scholarship, athletics and other extracurricular activities at the university and was a Rhodes Scholar finalist. Accepted into the Dentistry program at Western, Dr. Tom continued to play varsity basketball and to volunteer within the London community. On the Dean’s List each year, Dr. Tom was also chosen as one of only 6 students to work independently in the northern native community dental clinic of Moose Factory, Ontario as part of his clinical training. Dr. Tom joined Filgiano Dentistry in 2017 and is happy to note, “Talking with my patients is one of the best parts of my day. I like to make sure that they understand their options and that they feel they can ask questions. I want their interactions with me to be a really positive experience.”

Was weary given the state of the world, but these guys impressed. I haven't gone for my last two semi-annual cleanings thanks to Covid, and then I developed sudden tooth pain but my former dentist is not open like the others. I defaulted to the closet dentist with the best reviews and I can see why they are rated so well. The staff is super outgoing, the environment is surprisingly comfortable even with all of the Covid protocols in place. Tom explained his findings and gave me a logical solution. Definitely booking at this dentist going forward.
