Treatment is ok. Facility is older. Xrays oddly were the most uncomfortable part, they really need to get a better fitting insert, felt like I was gagging on every shot, moreso than any other dentist I've been to for xrays. They also immediately spotted some cavities (not a bad thing or their fault) but recommended I do a crown instead of fillings and didn't properly go over how that works with my insurance, instead just said I would likely have a very large copay (which is not a great way to inspire confidence/trust in a new patient). Will see if this is a trend, as my last dentist, though out of network, was much more communicative and willing to do the legwork to see how my treatment would impact my budget.

Overall, I would rate my first office visit a 2/5. Below is an explanation of my experience: First hygienist: The initial hygienist appeared to be a new employee and seemed unfamiliar with basic office procedures and the X-ray equipment. As a result, more than 20 X-rays were taken due to repeated errors and difficulty positioning the machine. The process took close to 30 minutes, during which she frequently left the room to locate equipment or ask staff for guidance. I also became uncomfortable when I noticed she touched various surfaces and the computer mouse with the same gloves used during my exam, and then continued working in my mouth without changing them. At that point, I expressed my discomfort and requested to switch to another hygienist. Second hygienist: The second hygienist was excellent—knowledgeable, efficient, and attentive. She was able to complete the X-rays in about five minutes and was very careful during the whitening service, staying with me throughout. I would rate her experience a 5/5. Dentist: Dr. Leung (from the San Francisco office, visiting San Jose) was thorough, friendly, and professional. He took time to explain my consultation clearly and made the interaction pleasant. Office manager: When I requested an after-visit summary/receipt for Open Care, the interaction felt somewhat uncomfortable. There was confusion regarding the claim submission, which had to be corrected, and I was told that the free whitening promotion resulted in "Losing Money" for the business. This was surprising, as the promotion was advertised online and I had confirmed twice beforehand that whitening would be included with the cleaning. Overall, this interaction felt unprofessional and contributed to a less positive first visit experience.

I was really anxious going to the Dentist that’s why it took years for me to have courage to book one, but they were really nice, I didn’t feel like they were judging me and they explained everything thoroughly. I’ll be recommending it to my family and friends!

Very disappointed there was no digital x-ray, instead it’s the older technology, which is more unreliable in showing contrast for small cavities. The diagnosis was somewhat rushed, likely to get a second opinion to confirm/deny the small cavities they want to immediately go in and fill.

I recently visited Fuller Smiles in San Jose, and my experience was refreshingly different. The clinic didn't just take the X-rays; they discussed them with me. They pulled the images up and walked me through exactly what they were seeing. Having a doctor take the extra two minutes to point out specific areas of concern transformed the dynamic from "trust me blindly" to "let’s look at this together." Also, I was dreading the logistics of booking my follow-up visit. The front desk team was incredibly accommodating and combined deep cleaning and filling on the same day.
