Dr. Stevens grew up in the small city of Sarnia, Ontario and completed her education in London, Ontario at Western University over eight years. Growing up, Dr. Stevens loved learning about human biology and helping people, so dentistry was her perfect fit. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science & Physiology, winning the Gold Medal in her graduating class at Western. She then proceeded to Schulich’s School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University to obtain of her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree and graduated as class valedictorian. Dr. Stevens enjoys her career in dentistry for many reasons, one being the continuum of learning. She has taken a wide variety of courses, ranging from dental implants, Invisalign, endodontics, paediatrics, prosthetics and restorative courses, and loves to be aware of where science is headed in our field. As a general dentist, Dr. Stevens takes pride in educating her patients in oral disease prevention, but most of all, she loves getting to meet new patients and getting to know her patients and their families. When not practicing, Dr. Stevens spends most ofher time with her family. On her own time, she is usually getting outdoors for exercise and likes trying new healthy cooking and baking recipes.
Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?
I feel very privileged as a dentist to meet and help patients every day. I like to take my time with patients and enjoy getting to know them to build a rapport that allows my patient’s values and preferences be integrated into their treatment plan. Educating my patients is at the cornerstone of my treatment philosophy and what I enjoy most as a dentist. As my patient, my aim is to help you achieve and maintain optimal oral health and to make your appointment with me the better parts of your day!
What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?
Restorative Treatments – dental caries (cavities) is a prevalent and common disease that we are all faced with and therefore requires preventative attention and restorative treatment when progressed. Invisalign & Clear aligner therapy – changing the position of even just a few teeth can improve not only your smile, but your chewing as well. Root Canal Therapy – when possible, saving our natural teeth is preferred and root canal therapy allows us to do so.
What are you proud of in your practice?
I am proud of my conservative and integrative approach in dentistry. Comprehensive care requires us to explore more than our hygiene practices, such as our diet, habits and lifestyle contributions, which I love educating my patients on at each visit. Preventive dentistry is my primary focus, as I believe patient education and coaching, combined with less invasive therapies, an effective treatment option
Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?
Relieving patients of pain: I feel I serve and help patients most by being able to help a patient identify the source of their pain and an appropriate treatment option. Root canal therapy is often included in such scenarios and I enjoy the procedure as well as saving a patient’s natural tooth. Paediatric Treatment & Anxious Patients: I enjoy the nurturing aspects of managing young patients at their dental visits, making treatment fun & interactive. I also appreciate the dental fears and phobias that stem from prior dental experiences, and pride myself in taking the time and strides with patients to help them overcome their fears associated with visits to the dentist.
