Dr. Roy moved to the Bay Area with her family in 2011 and worked in both dental academia as well as private practice. She wanted to establish a practice that was small by design, so as a provider she could spend the necessary time with her patients and establish a long-term, holistic view of their oral healthcare needs. She never takes her patient’s questions and anxiety lightly. Dr. Roy takes the time to listen, explain and educate her patients, and she places a high emphasis on prevention. Dr. Roy has been practicing dentistry since 2009. She also served as an adjunct professor at the UNC School of Dentistry from 2009 to 2011. She has been involved in social work through several organizations, such as Rotary Club, in providing dental checkup and oral health education in rural and underdeveloped areas. Dr. Roy has a 6-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter. When she is not at her practice, she loves spending time with her husband and kids. She has traveled quite extensively in Europe and parts of Asia. Dr. Roy loves to read and enjoys gardening. PROFESSIONAL TRAINING Dr. Roy completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from New York University College of Dentistry, which has one of the most dynamic, diverse and challenging patient populations for their dental students. After NYU, Dr. Roy did a one-year General Practice Residency (GPR) at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC. As one of the top GPR programs in the US, this was a rigorous year of hospital-based dentistry with very demanding cases. Dr. Roy participates in several seminars and attends regular continuing education courses to stay up-to-date with the latest advances in the field of dentistry.

Experience with Dr. Roy was great. I had issues with my scheduling experience via OpenCare. There were numerous glitches in the system with scheduling my appointment and/or lack of communication between open care and Dr. Roy's scheduling office. Open care would allow me to select a time on the website and then send me notifications that the time was taken. I think there was also one time where I was scheduled for something through Open care but I called Dr. Roy's office and they didn't see me in their system for that date and time.

Dr. Roy and her staff were very welcoming and thorough with some great bedside manner. Throughout the time I had my X-rays taken, the dental assistant constantly checked on me to see if I was ok. Once Dr. Roy came in to review the X-Rays as well as investigate my mouth, she was quick to diagnose what was wrong but offered ample rationale. She walked me through the various possibilities, supported her statements with pictures, and laid out the options I have. She was very thorough in explaining my diagnosed condition and worked with me to help me understand. In the past, I have been to dentist offices where I felt I received minimal guidance but came out feeling like I got taken advantage at a used car lot. This wasn't like that. I'd highly recommend and I already have my follow up appointments scheduled.
