About

Not all heroes wear capes – take Dr. Alice Chi for example! As a newly minted dentist, Dr. Alice dons her trusty scrubs and white coat while she dedicates herself to treating every patient with the same level of respect, skill, and compassion as she would with family. Dr. Alice earned her bachelor degrees – Biology and Psychology – from UC Davis before completing her doctorate in June 2021 at the UC San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry. Additional credentials include her Basic Life Support Certification and her UCSF Health Bilingual Certification, the latter in recognition of her Chinese Mandarin proficiency. Growing up in an immigrant family in San Francisco, Dr. Alice witnessed firsthand the destructive consequences of unethical dentistry. Due to language barriers and insurance issues, her uncle suffered unknowingly as a patient of an unlicensed dentist. This experience compelled Dr. Alice towards dentistry – so that no patient will ever have to endure the same mistreatment. Today, Dr. Alice is known in dentistry for her knowledge, work ethic, and passion. Dr. Alice treats both her patients and coworkers like family with clear communication and mutual respect. On her days off, Dr. Alice can be found at home – either she's simultaneously binging on boba and Korean dramas, or she’s tearing through a 1000-piece puzzle. If you want to catch her outside of the home, try signing up for a themed marathon! Dr. Alice is an experienced participant in marathons such as the hot chocolate run and the bubble run.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I believe that my patients deserve the best dentistry possible and that patient experience is key to my success as a doctor. I’m dedicated to making sure each of my patients feels relaxed, comfortable and confident in the treatment. To that goal, I enjoy explaining each diagnosis and encourage my patients to ask any questions they may have. I also strive to empower my patients with the knowledge to take control of their health. I focus on prevention and use nutrition as a tool to help patients overcome long-term dental issues such as gum disease, loss of teeth and cavities. I love people and seek to develop lasting professional relationships with my patients.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

At Total Health, we do everything under one roof. Our team of specialists do everything from periodontal treatments to oral surgery, orthodontic and implants.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I am proud of the excellent dentistry and exceptional experience we provide. Our patients rave about us on Yelp and Google. It’s fulfilling to see a new patient come in with some level of anxiety and leave feeling 100% comfortable with and confident in the cleaning or treatment. Our patients leave feeling good about themselves. They leave smiling.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

Since dentistry is a combination of science and art, every case is fulfilling. I really love helping people. It’s an incredible feeling to see a patient smile with confidence and genuine happiness after an office visit.

First time care appointment involved a set of X-rays/photos and then a video chat with one of the dentists. Also booked a cleaning appointment for a couple days later. Overall good, though I thought the video call format was a bit strange -- made it slightly harder to ask the dentist questions.

Interesting process. You'll need to book a cleaning separately from the initial intake appointment. They have you download an app that connects you to the dentist via video call, and they review your x rays remotely.

The staff was easy to work with and very professional. The first visit was all X-rays and imaging, I’ll be going back for a cleaning this week. Great experience overall

Everyone at the practice is very nice - Ashley especially was extremely helpful. As a heads up, the dentists are virtual, and there is some inconvenience for the fact that most of your session is taking pictures for the dentist to review. There was no routine cleaning in my first appt
