Biography

Anna graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington with a liberal arts degree in Studio Art and a minor in Sports Medicine. At which point she traveled across the country to attend the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina to obtain her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. While attending MUSC, Anna also became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Over the past 5 years Anna has been working in an outpatient orthopedic setting and taken further courses to advance her manual therapy skills. Outside of work she and a coworker created a "screen and clean" program to help assess those who wanted to begin a gym program, work on injury prevention, or generally physically feel better. She has also worked with Paideia faculty, coaches, and students to educate them on how to develop and implement a proper lifting program. When she is not participating in work related activities, Anna is playing ultimate frisbee or practicing yoga

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I pride myself in taking patients above and beyond recovery. I design a program specifically for them, using manual therapy techniques and exercises, to best help them recover from whatever injury they have and help them return to whatever level of activity they were at before injury. I am a big proponent of the patient being an active participate, so I focus on education and patient understanding of what I am doing, what they are doing, and the injury process. I am a firm believer that it is not just what you do, but how you do it. I work hard for my patients to help them enjoy their physical therapy experience as much as possible. I am very active myself and have worked on designing sports and conditioning programs for local teams and high schools. Check out my reviews on Yelp!

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

I am a heavily based manual therapist who utilizes soft tissue work, joint mobilization, and mobilization with movement. I have taken various continuing education classes on techniques and have been practicing for over 5 years, allowing me to assess what will work best for you. I am a firm believer that the manual therapy is a vital component to physical therapy, helping to decrease pain and improve mobility to cleanse the palate to have a clean slate to learn to move from again.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I strive in my customer service skills and patient interaction. Being hurt isn't any fun, so I strive to make it the best situation that it can be. I try to create a fun, interactive environment, while still respecting personal privacy. I am proud of what I do in my profession and strive to continue to develop myself in order to help people the best that I can.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I enjoy treating everything because I believe that the body works as an entire unit. You will perform specific exercises and manual techniques to your ailment, but from there it is all about tying it back to meaningful and familiar movements so that you have carryover into every day life. The program designed for you can also be easily transitioned into a functional gym program so that you can continue to be healthy and feeling better.
