Overall experience was quite good. However, they assumed that I wanted the complete package right in the beginning instead of asking what I was looking for. There were some attempts are trying to push what the insurance covers rather than what I require as a patient. Overall experience was good but do not appreciate the money-making mentality.

Based on my recent experience, I would give the Art of Smile Dentistry team 4 out of 5 stars. I’ve had three appts. so far, and my visits ranged from very difficult to genuinely positive. My initial appt. was for photos, x‑rays, and a cleaning. During the cleaning, my gums were bleeding a lot and the pain was intense enough that I eventually had to ask to stop; only then was I offered some numbing gel. Dr. Kim came to check on me during this appt., but the interaction was very brief and felt more transactional than reassuring. It left me feeling more like a number than a new patient who was anxious and vulnerable. I understand that dentists are busy, but I did expect a bit more presence and warmth for a first visit. Because of the buildup on my teeth, the hygienist was only able to complete one half of my mouth. While I understood the situation, the experience itself felt rushed, not thorough, and was the most painful cleaning I’ve had. She frequently mentioned that there wasn’t much time left, and I felt so much pressure on my gums that I was tensing up and squinting from the pain. Afterward, I was given a quick rinse, but I could still clearly taste blood. I went to the washroom to look in the mirror where I saw clumps of blood between my teeth and what looked like a small nick in my gums, so I rinsed several more times and then asked the front desk if someone could please rinse my mouth more thoroughly. The hygienist did rinse more completely, but I wish I didn't have to ask and advocate for myself. I was also disappointed by my interaction with one of the receptionists when I mentioned that my mouth didn’t feel clean and that I needed a better rinse. The response came across as somewhat sarcastic and dismissive, which didn’t align with how I hoped to be treated after a difficult appt.a I recognize there was a lot of bleeding, but I still expect to leave feeling cleaner than when I arrived. Overall I did not feel well cared for during that first visit. My second appt., with Dr. Battaglin, was a completely different experience—in a very positive way. This visit was easily a 4.5 out of 5 stars. She explained what she was doing as she went, checked on me regularly to make sure I was comfortable, and completed the filling quickly and efficiently. I felt seen, cared for, and that she was fully present throughout the appt. She was also very kind to both me and the dental assistant working with her, which contributed a lot to the overall sense of professionalism and care. My third appt. was to have the other half of my mouth cleaned, this time with Myla (forgive me if I’ve misspelled her name). She may be the best hygienist I’ve met. She was extremely kind, polite, and easy to talk to, and she made me feel at ease from the start. She worked gently and deliberately, regularly checked in on how I was feeling, and was very mindful of how sensitive my gums were after my previous experience. I appreciated that she took her time instead of rushing, and I left feeling truly clean and much more motivated to take better care of my teeth. I genuinely look forward to seeing her for future cleanings. One ongoing concern for me is around receipts and administrative follow‑through. I referred my husband as well, and between the two of us we’ve had about five appts. in a span of seven days. We were told we would receive our receipts by email after each visit, but I found myself repeatedly having to call and remind the office to send them. Some of my emails were also only partially answered. This inconsistency in communication and documentation is concerning, especially given how often we’ve been in. Overall, I really value the care I received from Dr. Battaglin and Myla, and I hope that my future visits will resemble the level of gentleness, communication, and professionalism they provided. If the rest of the experience hygiene comfort, front desk interactions, and admin follow‑through—can be brought up to the same standard, Art of Smile Dentistry has the potential to be truly exceptional!

Friendly staff, great experience

I had a great experience at my first visit. I came in for X-rays, scaling, and polishing, and everything was handled very smoothly. The hygienist explained each step of the process clearly and was very gentle and attentive throughout, which made me feel comfortable. Afterward, the dentist reviewed all my X-rays and examined my teeth thoroughly. They took the time to explain their findings and discussed any future procedures in a clear and understandable way.

Fatima was great, really attentive and made the whole experience comfortable and thorough. Highly recommend her!
