Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I am fundamentally committed to taking a genuine, compassionate and nonjudgmental stance with clients, and honoring the courage it takes to do the work of therapy. I like language and music, questioning and seeking and wondering, and humor and playfulness, and I often weave these elements into my work with clients. I like looking at what’s already working, and looking at how to increase that. I seek to stay mindful of holding the balance between both providing gentle support of wherever the client may currently be, and challenging the client to keep moving toward what they want to become. I have worked in the social services and counseling field since 2003, in inpatient and intensive outpatient psychiatric settings, supportive housing, foster care, school and residential treatment settings, and in private practice. I hold a Master of Science in Social Work degree from the University of Texas at Austin (2006), and and a B.A in English with a minor in psychology from Southwestern University. I primarily use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as leaning on an attachment-focused perspective (highlighting the incredible importance of connections with others) . I am licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners to practice therapy as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and am bound by this licensure and by my own value system to maintain a rigorously ethical practice and seek ongoing training and education.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

TEENS: I work with teens and their families, who may be coping in ways that interfere with their long-term goals, teens who are engaging in behaviors that are scary for themselves or their families, creative and curious teens who crave being understood, teens who are lonely, isolating, or feel like shutting down, and teens who are struggling with the pressure of school, activities, changing peers groups, or changes in the family. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, self-injuring behavior and anger outbursts in teens. I believe that teens and their families are already doing the best that they know how to do given their current skill base, and that increased information and tools can assist in coping and thriving during this dynamic, wild, and precious time in the lifespan. ADULTS: I work with adults who are looking for transformation, clarity, connection, and hope. My clients learn to be kinder to themselves, to feel their lives to be more spacious, to have deeper and more meaningful connections, to feel more in alignment with their own spiritual beliefs. Some concerns that people bring in to therapy: Perfectionism Anxiety Depression Difficulty with self-compassion Caregiver fatigue Relationship problems Parenting stress Loneliness
