Biography

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

Stephanie Arsenault is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She is a central Texas native and received her Bachelor in Communication with a minor in Anthropology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and her Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Her work in the mental health fields has involved providing therapy to a range of populations with a strong focus on children, adolescents and their families.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

Stephanie’s areas of specialization include extensive work with individuals with neurobehavioral and organic mood disorder issues such as impulsivity, anger, rage and aggression. Stephanie has many years of experience working with children and teenagers with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum disorders, Attachment Disorder, and Adjustment Disorder along with a wide range of other issues. Stephanie coaches families to help them build the skills needed when children are in crisis. She believes that the family is a system in which all members need to understand the experiences of not only the person experiencing issues, but also the other family members that are trying to cope. With her help, the entire family will learn how to support and relate with each other in the best manner possible for the highest potential outcome.

What are you proud of in your practice?

Stephanie’s approach to therapy combines strength-based and client-centered approaches. Stephanie utilizes play therapy with younger clients, which helps them to communicate even if they are unable to use words to explain their experiences. Stephanie applies frameworks such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems and Narrative Therapy to help her clients set goals and work through blockages that are keeping them from success. Stephanie has experience with the link between neuroscience and behavioral disorders, which is a particular interest in her practice. Her professional affiliations include the Texas Counseling Association, The Association for Play Therapy and the Hill Country Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy. Stephanie has been published as a co-author in the official journal of the American Neuropsychiatric Association, The Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences.
