Dr. Natalie Archer believes a trip to the dentist should be a warm and relaxing experience and so she has engineered a unique approach to 'patient-centered' dentistry. All three Archer Dental clinics are designed to provide patients with relaxing, spa-like medical treatments in comfortable settings with modern amenities. Dr. Archer obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2001 from Dalhousie University where she was the recipient of the Brasseler Award for the Faculty of Dentistry. Subsequently, she completed her Certification in Intravenous Conscious Sedation at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. In 2014, Natalie worked hard to "Take the Bite Out of Elder Abuse" through her Dental Elder Abuse Response (D.E.A.R.) Project, which was funded by the federal government's New Horizons for Seniors Program. You may have seen her on TV or in print magazines related to this subject and other dental stories. Today, Dr Natalie Archer regularly consults with several local media outlets and organizations including Canadian Family Magazine, the Canadian Bar Association, Rogers TV and the Health Council of Canada - to raise awareness of dental elder abuse as well as the link between one's oral health and overall health.
Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?
Archer Dental goes beyond what's expected by offering the unexpected - hot towels, lavender pillows, and lots of other high tech pleasures that will make your trip to the dentist a more pleasant experience than you were probably expecting. We care about each and every patient that comes through our door and we strive to ensure they leave our office more confident about themselves and their smiles than before their appointment. Everything in our clinics has been thoroughly tried and tested with my incredible teams who pamper patients and deliver that type of unparalleled efficiency that creates trust. I'm also the proud recipient of the Fellowship in the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics which is awarded to dentists who have distinguished themselves in their profession.
What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?
Even though I consider myself a well-rounded dentist who thoroughly enjoys the day-to-day life in our clinics by meeting with patients from any background, I focus on treating people with dental anxiety, as well as seniors and those with mobility issues. This requires great skill and ingenuity to provide the care they deserve. I also have a vested interest in dental policy and preventive care. That is why I served for many years on the Board of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and was the organization’s Vice President from March 2011-2012.
What are you proud of in your practice?
Something that makes me very proud is that all three Archer Dental clinics have good reviews because of our experienced staff, attractive aesthetics and advanced equipment. All three locations are able to diagnose and treat just about any type of dental issue. Archer Dental Baby Point is fully accessible and designed for geriatric care and patients with mobility issues
Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?
I am very passionate about the special needs of our elderly, particularly with respect to dental care and its impact on their overall health. For ten years, I practiced mobile Geriatric Dentistry throughout Ontario in over one hundred and thirty five different Long Term Care facilities, nursing homes, hospitals and independent residences. Furthermore, I have frequently spoken at medical conferences related to health care for seniors and the special skills this requires. Also, I have been invited by a variety of community leaders to offer opinions related to geriatric oral health.
