Early into her education, Sonya developed a passion to understanding the science of injury and rehabilitation for the human body. She believes that empowering her clients with the knowledge about the cause of their injury, and self-management to prevent re-injury are key tools to rehabilitation. Sonya is eager to meet and help you reach your therapeutic and personal goals. She is committed to developing an evidence-based, individualized treatment plan for her clients. During her free time, Sonya enjoys participating in Zumba and yoga fitness classes, cheering on the Raptors and hanging out with friends and family.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I am passionate about working with my clients to help alleviate their symptoms and work towards a healthier lifestyle. After providing a thorough assessment for my clients, I work with them to develop a unique treatment plan that will help them reach their goals and decrease their pain as quickly as possible. I realize that life can get busy, so I will work to make sure that we can design a treatment program that works around your schedule and can be incorporated into your daily routine.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

My top three treatments to focus on include evidence-based manual therapy, exercise prescription and client education.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I am proud that I am able to learn about my clients personal experiences and help work with them so they can reach their goals of physiotherapy. It is a privilege to have a thorough knowledge of how the human body works, and I am proud to educate my patients on their conditions so they are able to take a more active role in their recovery.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

Whether acute or chronic, I enjoy treating all types of cases! That being said, shoulder injuries have a special place in my heart. As someone who has had a shoulder injury in the past, I can understand and relate to those who are experiencing a similar pain. The shoulder is a complex joint, and I enjoy helping clients regain their mobility and getting back to their daily activities.

Sonya was very knowledgeable, I told her my concerns and she addressed them with solutions (suggested a few exercises along with treating me to a therapeutic ultrasound).
