Biography

I graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, and from the University of Toronto with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. Throughout my education and career I have been working with athletes, children, and older adults in various settings. Some of which include Toronto FC Academy, Oakville Soccer Club, Holland Bloorview Concussion Clinic, and other clinics, teams, and hospitals. I am continuously looking to further my training and education in the fields of sports physiotherapy, manual therapy, concussion, and more. To date, I have completed my Level 1 Manual Therapy Certification. Additionally, I am certified in Sports Emergency Response, and have taken COMPASS Interactive which is a patient communication seminar. Throughout my studies I have also been involved in various research projects. Currently, I have published in the journal Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders; and I have completed an undergraduate research seminar presentation related to ACL injury. My passion for physical rehabilitation and performance stems from my own background in sports. I played soccer in the provincial league growing up, and played for the University of Waterloo Varsity soccer team during my undergraduate studies. In addition, I represented Team Ontario in the sport of Karate and competed nationally all over Canada. Currently, I enjoy playing soccer and tennis recreationally, and find myself in the gym or staying active outdoors in my spare time.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I believe one valuable asset every therapist needs is compassion. Given my own history of knee injury - having had 3 surgeries myself and undergone lots of rehabilitation - I find I can deeply relate to patients and athletes as they aim to overcome their respective obstacles. When it comes to investigation and assessment of injury I take every case as it's own unique problem and I aim to get to the cause of the issue. A comprehensive assessment from me will involve looking at the various structures that may be affected, as well as determining the multitude of possible contributing factors i.e. sport technique, work and lifestyle, etc… In terms of treatment I look to utilize various types of treatment i.e. exercise based intervention, manual therapy and hands-on techniques, and modalities in order to address the issue as effectively as possible. Additionally, I intend to work closely with you to help prevent further or future problems, and improve performance - whether in sport, work, or life. I believe that keeping my patients informed about their rehabilitation is important and that their goals are my goals. It really is a privilege being someone's physiotherapist, and so I hope my patients don't look at me as "that one physio that helped me out that one time". Instead, I keep my doors open to those that I work with so they can always feel comfortable reaching out to me even beyond their treatment period. That is one of the main reasons I am active on my professional social media and on email, because that way I can reach out to previous or future patients and athletes, and support them on their journeys, whether that be towards an Olympic podium or a successful return to work and family.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

Often I will incorporate exercise based intervention, hands-on techniques such as soft tissue release or joint mobilizations, and various tools such as taping, braces, or modalities as appropriate.

What are you proud of in your practice?

Often I will incorporate exercise based intervention, hands-on techniques such as soft tissue release or joint mobilizations, and various tools such as taping, braces, or modalities as appropriate.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

Although I enjoy working with athletes and treating sport injury, by no means do I exclusively work in sports. I love getting an elite athlete back to their game as much as I love getting my seniors back to playing with their grandchildren or busy professionals back to work. Fortunately, as a physiotherapist I have the privilege of encountering various types of cases. Whatever your rehabilitation or performance goals, I would love to help you get there.
