I am an empathetic and experienced therapist, trained in a number of evidence-based treatments including Emotion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Outside of work, I am an active cyclist, runner, and rock climber, and try to be in green areas as often as I can.
Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), with experience conducting therapy in a variety of settings including hospitals, community services, residential treatment settings, and a rape crisis centre. I hold a Masters in Psychology and certificates in trauma therapy, DBT, and family and couples therapy.
What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?
I specialize in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). All three modalities are grounded in emotion theory. This means that through the therapeutic relationship, you will learn how to pay attention to your feelings, needs, and actions, and learn how to pause and act, rather than react. This will allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties and create meaningful transformations in patterns of emotion, behaviour, and thoughts, as well as gaining a better understanding of yourself.
What are you proud of in your practice?
My ability to create a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space for you to explore and shift painful emotions, thoughts, and patterns in lasting ways
Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?
I find that in therapy, all clients bring something new to the process, so each client I meet is enjoyable for the very reason that I never know what to expect. People and their relationships with others are my passion; every case is enjoyable because I have yet to meet an uninteresting person.
