I have worked in the health care field for well over 10 years. Some of my positions included working as a paramedic with the British Columbia Ambulance service and working as a Doctor’s Assistant, most recently in the field of chronic pain management. I have also completed a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and a Masters degree in Medical Sciences. I spend my free time as a tutor for massage therapy students, specifically helping them with their manual skills as well as the more academic side of massage training, including systemic anatomy and pathophysiology.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I have a passion for the healthcare field and for seeing my patient’s treatment through to the end. I recognize that each person is an individual with specific needs and time constraints in today’s busy world, so I find a way to partner and work with my patients in order to meet their healthcare goals. I also have extensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology because of my multiple years of medical education and experience, which adds insight to my massage therapy practice.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

The techniques I have used most commonly are Trigger Point release therapy and Myofascial Release; these are both integral treatment modalities to an RMT and can help significantly reduce muscle tension and pain. I also incorporate (and tutor) low to medium grade Joint Mobilization whenever it is relevant to the treatment goals. This is an incredibly useful technique that I like to incorporate into the massage treatment when the range of motion is restricted in specific joints.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I combine my years of experience and education in the various different facets of health care with massage therapy to better assess, treat, and work with my patients to meet their individual needs.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I love working with all cases that can be treated by massage, it’s why I became a registered massage therapist and it feels impossible to choose just a few. I do, however, particularly enjoy providing treatment for tension headaches, especially ones that stem from neck and jaw tension. I love to see the dramatic difference and relief that massage therapy can provide.

I went to Lydia with some upper shoulder and back issues, and after several sessions these issues were solved completely. I'm very happy with my experience. The facilities look clean and modern, and Lydia was professional and thorough in her assessments and treatments. Would highly recommend and will return for more treatments at this clinic.
