I am a registered massage therapist and a registered kinesiologist. I emigrated from South Korea, and I am a bilingual, speaking both Korean and English fluently. I earned my Kinesiology degree from University of Toronto St. George. After that I finished my massage program with the President’s honour roll at Fanshawe College. I have been lifting weights since I was in high school, and it has become a part of my daily routine. I love learning new things outside of my field, currently I am very interested in modern philosophy. I spend my free time playing guitar, reading, playing games, and cooking.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

There are many great RMTs in the area however as a dual-registered provider, RMT/R.Kin, I look at problems from two distinct points of view; one being the pain relief aspect and another being the preventative aspect. Therefore, I believe that I have the advantage when it comes to a more holistic therapy.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

Although I am familiar with a variety of massage techniques, I especially use a lot of trigger point therapy and joint mobilization during my treatment. Being a kinesiologist, prescribing therapeutic exercise is another strength of mine. I believe massage therapy is truly effective only when coupled with appropriate homecare. I try to give out quick and easy exercises that the clients can do at their work or at home.

What are you proud of in your practice?

The proudest moment is when I find out that my massage treatment is contributing to a client’s well-being. That’s when my passion for massage therapy rejuvenates.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

My favorite cases are low back pain and sacroiliac issues. I know that low back pain can be excruciating even at rest and it is often debilitating to deal with. Knowing that, I just love witnessing the client’s quality of life improve when their back pain is relieved. I also enjoy treating athletes, weight lifters, and those who require deep pressure.

I was getting leg cramps in my calves and the bottom of my feet because I do a lot of salsa dancing as my hobby. After Phil's massage, my legs felt amazing and they haven't had the same cramps since! I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great leg massage!
