Biography

John's practice uses exercise and movement therapy to help manage injuries and chronic conditions that affect your ability to move at your own pace. He is passionate about helping his clients to overcome their barriers to recovery and fitness, and prevent re-injury caused by sports and other activities. John provides in-home Therapeutic Fitness, Personal Training, and Sports Conditioning services to clients in the Metro Toronto area. He is also part of the exceptional rehab team at the Orthopaedic Therapy Clinic located in downtown Toronto. Clients who prefer a professional gym setting are welcomed to access a state-of-the-art personal training studio. John embraces the philosophy of Exercise is Medicine and is currently pursuing this certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He is also certified in WellSpring’s CancerSmart Exercise program and provides exercise for individuals preparing for, undergoing, and following, cancer-related treatments. John is a Registered Kinesiologist (RKin) with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, and holds a Master’s degree in Biomechanics from Queen’s University. His post-graduate education has taken him around the world, having studied in England, the United States, Australia and Asia. He also pursued doctoral studies, published research articles and a book chapter with renowned spine expert Dr. Stuart McGill, PhD. John works with clients having a wide range of clients and abilities. He focuses on achieving measurable and attainable goals that matter to your quality of life. His has helped mature clients to remove restrictions keeping them from their favourite activities; helped "A" level recreationally-competitive adult athletes to stay at the top of their tier; and has been integral to the development of many amateur athletes in achieving international-level performances. From 2005 to 2012 John was the Sports Conditioning Consultant to the University of Toronto Women’s Varsity Volleyball Team, FIVB[1] world-tour women’s beach volleyball athletes, and currently assists Team 2020, Canada's future Olympians in Archery, in their goals toward podium performances. Association Memberships and Awards John is a leader in his profession, serving on the Council of the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (CKO), and holding professional membership with the Ontario Kinesiology Association. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has been recognized by his peers as an “Educational Influential” in Kinesiology through the Ontario Institute for Work and Health.
