Dr. Cristina Allen is a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Canada's leading institution for naturopathic medicine. Dr. Allen's goal is to provide her patients with a sustainable form of medicine. She uses her knowledge to determine the root cause of the complaint and treat to encourage long-term optimal health. Her four-pronged approach to healthcare is therefore simple: 1. Consider the individual as a whole 2. Empower through education 3. Apply the least invasive treatments possible 4. Promote prevention as key

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

My goal with all my patients is to provide them with a sustainable approach to healthcare. This means I will work to optimize the health of an individual to overcome their health concerns, while educating them and taking a preventative approach.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

Dr. Allen sees both pediatric and adult patients and treats a wide range of conditions, ranging from digestive complaints and hormonal imbalances to anti-aging and prevention, using individualized programs. Treatment modalities include diet and lifestyle modifications, herbal and nutritional medicines, and acupuncture. She has furthered her education to complete a specialty in paediatrics and fertility, is accredited to treat with bio-identical hormones and natural desiccated thyroid, and trained to become one of the few doctors in Eastern Ontario licensed in Intravenous Therapy and Mesotherapy.

What are you proud of in your practice?

A priority of mine in my practice is to build good rapport with all my patients, and believe that it is the key to providing the best care to my patients.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

It's quite common that patients will end up at a naturopath because they're unsatisfied with what conventional medicine has provided. I find these cases to be particularly interesting, as they require investigative work that engages both myself and the patient, to determine the root cause of the concern. Once that's found, the results that the patient experiences is incredibly rewarding for both of us!
