Biography

I have been in health care for almost two decades. I initially attended McMaster University where I focused on Kinesiology (the study of human movement), following my dream of helping my patients achieve optimal health I pursued Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). During this time I realized I loved teaching while helping in the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program which prompted me in pursuing a Masters in Education (in Higher Learning for Health Care Professionals) at the University of Toronto, OISE. While in clinical practice I maintained an interest in teaching, assisting in the education of other health care providers at CMCC in clinical diagnosis, Active Release Technique in a specialized soft tissue therapy, SpiderTech as their Director of Education and Research. But all along my passion was in clinical practice and therefore after spending some time at Collaborans a multimedia health and fitness education company I returned to full time clinical practice. At present, my approach is what I have termed Physical Medicine. It is used to get your body to heal and function its best. It is an integration of various forms of manual medicine to provide you the means to speed up your healing after an injury or rid you of those aches and pains that prevent you from enjoying your life. This is done by using manual medicine and physical therapies to restore optimal function to the nervous system, muscles and joints in order to reduce pain and promote healing. By integrate a variety of soft tissue therapies such as Fascial Distortion Model (FDM), instrument assisted fascial release, Active Release Therapy (ART), Graston, and Fascial Manipulation. Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is used to increase blood flow to your injured or dysfunctional areas and improve your well being while decreasing pain. Chiropractic Joint Manipulation and Mobilization helps to ensure that your joints move better. Kinesiology Taping helps to get the right muscles moving for the right reasons or help train you to keep better postures while at rest or during physical activity. Each patient also receives Active Rehabilitation, which uses specific exercises to increase your range of motion, strength, coordination and endurance. When integrating this into your care, you are taught proper in-home, at-work and, or in-gym exercises under my supervision. You are then provided with on-line access to your exercises with specialized software that allows you to view them through any computer or mobile device and print them off in many different formats. These specialized exercises will ensure that the improvements you experience with your physical medicine treatments are supported and guide you to restoring proper movement, decreasing pain, improving performance and preventing re-occurrence.
