Biography

Stephanie is a Registered Dietitian and sport nutritionist. She graduated with Honours from the University of Guelph with a Bachelors of Applied Science specializing in Applied Human Nutrition. She then pursued her passion for sport performance nutrition by completing her Masters of Science degree specializing in Exercise, Nutrition and Metabolism. Here she was involved in studies investigating nutrition adequacy of young hockey players, hydration habits of amateur, varsity and elite athletes and how fluid and carbohydrate intake affects ice hockey performance. She then completed her Dietetic Internship at London Health Sciences Centre and has worked as a Registered Dietitian in child and adolescent mental health and eating disorders. Stephanie spent most of her childhood in the rink as a competitive figure skater and later was involved in volleyball, track and cross country. During her university years she was drawn to weight lifting and has continued with this ever since. She is currently enjoying learning the art of traditional Olympic lifting. Stephanie believes everything fits in moderation when it comes to diets and truly believes that nutrition has a huge impact on sport performance.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I am an athlete myself and therefore understand the physical demands of exercise. I am able to give you my personal tips and tricks that I use to keep myself on track with nutrition and how it has impacted my performance. I have experience working with all ages in various disease states in addition to athletic populations and truly enjoy working with my clients to build realistic goals and sustainable, long-term healthy lifestyle changes.

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

Three areas of expertise would be as follows: - sport performance nutrition - joint pain management and mental health - eating disorders

What are you proud of in your practice?

One thing I am proud of in my practice is that I provide the best evidence-based knowledge in a non judgemental atmosphere. I think everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity and I am always willing to go above and beyond to give my patients the best possible care and information to meet their needs.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I enjoy treating athletes the most, especially youth and teenaged athletes, as this can be an exciting time for them in terms of their athletic career and development. It is very special to be a part of their journey as they grow, develop and reach their athletic goals.
