Masha completed her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto in 2018 after earning an Honours Bachelor of Medical Sciences from Western University in 2013. Prior to completing her degree, Masha worked as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and nutrition coach, which only fueled her passion for using purposeful movement to maximize function and improve quality of life; leading her to pursue Physical Therapy as a career. Masha develops individualized treatment plans for each and every one of her patients, based on gaining a comprehensive history and understanding their unique client presentation. Her focus is to find the root of the problem, address the issue, and help patients achieve their goals and maintain the highest level of function possible. Masha highly values continuing education, and has taken courses in Running Assessment, Powerlifting, and Sports Nutrition, and has earned certifications in Fascial Stretch Therapy, Soft Tissue Release, and K Taping. Masha's approach to treatment is multimodal and involves patient education, a variety of manual therapy techniques, and individualized exercise prescription. Outside of the clinic, Masha enjoys exploring the best places to eat in the city, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and trying to break personal records in the weights section at the gym. She also loves to travel, and has visited much of Europe and Central America. In case the name didn't tip you off, Masha is Russian and speaks the language fluently.
Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?
My client's well-being is of the utmost importance to me, and I pride myself on being accessible to my clients between visits and even after discharge to provide guidance and support. I also always strive to help my clients achieve their goals by finding the root cause of their problems. I am committed to providing individualized treatment to each client, as no two injuries and no two clients are the same. I strongly believe that a good client education, targeted manual therapy, and a specialized exercise program, when combined correctly, can remediate most orthopedic problems and help clients achieve their goals and live pain free.
What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?
I specialize in soft tissue techniques, including fascial stretch therapy, which aims to improve movement, improve postural alignment, and alleviate tension by targeting the body's fascia (connective tissue). I also specialize in personalized exercise prescription and creating customized return to play programs. Finally, I believe that patient education is one of the most important tools a physiotherapist has to empower a client, give them a thorough understanding of the nature and underlying cause of the injury, and help prevent recurrence.
What are you proud of in your practice?
I am proud to be able to make a positive impact on my client's lives; to play a part in providing people with relief from their injuries and getting them back to doing the activities they enjoy, pain free.
Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?
I enjoy a variety of injuries. I find that I learn something new from every client that I have the pleasure of working with; similar injuries in different clients can often respond well to different treatments. I enjoy figuring out what works best for each individual and then guiding the client through a personalized treatment plan to achieve optimal function.
