John has been a passionate and enthusiastic massage therapist since 1998. He is a member of CMTO (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario). Since graduating from Sutherland-Chan Massage School, he has added many tools to help his varied clients’ needs. Medical acupuncture and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) training at McMaster University has added another level of being able to help clients. John integrates acupuncture with his massage treatment and instructs on self care between treatments. Additional courses taken: osteopathic, including myofascial and spinal rehabilitation stretching (ELDOA – Guy Voyer D.O.), deep tissue/Trigger point therapies and Rolfing techniques. John is very knowledgeable regarding the human body and how it functions. He specializes in sports injuries, work related problems; Tennis elbow, Carpal tunnel, low back/Sciatica pain, Head aches as well as many other issues. John has written various health related articles for “Asian Wave” magazine on such topics as: Ergonomics in the workplace and Low back pain caused by sleeping and sitting improperly. John’s philosophy is that you are your own best help at being aware of what is occurring with your body and giving it what it needs to keep it in optimum condition. Within his practice, his goal is to initially help eliminate or decrease pain and restore normal function while determining and addressing what caused the issue. By changing the bad habit you decrease or eliminate the cause. Rebalancing the body is then achieved with massage treatments combined with stretching and strengthening exercises. Exercises are performed and instructed during a session and given as self-help homework. Through all this, you will become more aware of your own body and how it is functioning. With the exercises learned/demonstrated by John, you can help your body daily. Eventually, you will only require regular maintenance massage tune-ups and added homework if needed. If you want to be actively involved with achieving and maintaining a strong and healthy body, John may be your answer. He can help you and guide you to achieve that healthier happier body. John’s interests and loves include: being able to help his clients achieve and maintain a healthy and pain free body, his family, photography, camping, windsurfing, skiing/snowboarding, his tiny crammed garden and enjoying life to the fullest.
